Re-Introduction Time!

WOW! I decided to devote what little "me time" I had today to updating the boys' blog, & I am SO embarrassed to find that the last post was 6 months ago!!! I can't see time freeing up anytime soon to post daily since summertime is upon us, but getting my laptop up & working again is at the top of my priority list. That way, I can at least pop in from the comfort of my couch during movie time! It was also suggested that I start a Facebook page so folks can keep track of the amazingness that springs forth from the mouths of these little guys. We'll see about that one, but without further adieu, let me re-introduce you to "Those Smith Boys". A year older, a couple inches taller, & fluent in hilarity!

Linguini Creeping the Crib - Day 2

I'm living vicariously through Linguini {exciting life I live, eh?}. I've always wanted to repel, but one teeny, tiny thing has held me back. Heights. Loved them as a kid, send me into near hysterics now.
Honestly, I was too worn out to do anything fun last night...er, this morning. I was playing with my new embroidery machine until 1AM! There were tears, a pile of trashed fabric, words that would make my mother blush, LOTS of reading, & finally, 3 perfectly embroidered stocking cuffs! Hoping to get at least one complete stocking done today if the littles cooperate at naptime. {G} has been protesting naps this week, so that's a big IF!

Linguin Creeping the Crib - Day 1

Our little {creepy} elf, Linguini, made his appearance last night! He left a note for the boys letting them know that he was the reason for the cold front, & he brought them some new winter hats! Now, before I have you thinking this was some super creative move on my part, it really wasn't. I bought these hats on sale a couple of weeks ago, & the temp shot up to 80 before I could give them to the boys. In an attempt to keep them from sweating their little brains out by *insisting* they wear their new hats in 80 degree weather, I hid them! It just so happens that a cold front came through the day that I decided to reintroduce little Linguini. TA-DA...he brought the hats, the boys were THRILLED, & now we have incentive to be on our best behaviors. Awesomesauce.

We're Baaaaack!!! {hopefully for good!}

I quit blogging {so shortly after I started, right?!} due to hectic schedules & the death of my beloved laptop. RIP. If you're a super busy mommy, or anyone else really, you know the importance of having a handy computer that fits in your lap so that you may watch the young 'nes whilst handling whatever business you need to handle. I did attempt to blog from my phone, but it was a complete fail. Apparently I have abnormally fat thumbs. Hmph. I will not attempt to catch up on the past few months at this time...I've got projects screaming my name from the other room! So...here's a quickie...

- {J}, or "Moose", is very quickly approaching his 8th birthday. He is OH-SO smart, as handsome as the come, & is giving me a run for my money in the creativity department! He has blown his teachers away this year with his extra credit projects, & enjoys every minute of coming up with ideas & making them work! I really need to teach him how to use the hot glue gun & staple gun so that he can truly say that he did it all by himself...I think his teachers think I do it all!

- {A}, or "Monkey", just turned 5. He has reached "manhood", or so he thinks! He is as stubborn as a mule {no clue where he gets that}, fearless, HI-larious, and, of course, handsome! I definitely have my hands full with this one...just one of the many reasons I dread sitting down at the desktop. My back turns & his brain kicks into overdrive to see what he can get into!

- {G}, or "Froggy", is coming up on 9 months. How is this possible?! Didn't I JUST give birth?! He amazes me every day. He is SO full of energy, has the most contagious laugh, & loves, loves, LOVES his big brothers! He isn't crawling or walking yet, but gets where he needs to go with his lightening fast ninja rolls. God knew exactly what he was doing when he blessed us with this little guy. {A} will be starting school just as our precious {G} really starts getting into things...PERFECT timing! I might have needed a new house, complete with a padded room, if I had to keep an eye on both of these guys at once for too much longer;)

So there you have it, {JAG} in a nutshell. On to our elfing adventures with the Smith Family Elf, Linguini!

Happy Cloth Diaper Awareness Week!

When I made the decision to cloth diaper {G}, I was met with many questions.  The main one was, "WHY?!".  Honestly?  Because they're freaking adorable!  And, uh, it helps the environment...
but mostly because those little fluffy buns are the cutest!  We are also saving a ton of money {though my husband would disagree with this after reviewing my receipts}.  I received a lot of backlash regarding my decision, but the funny thing was, none of it came from people that actually cloth diapered...or even attempted to for that matter!  All of my friends that chose cloth loved it, so those were the people I chose to listen to.  I'm very glad that I did!  We LOVE our cloth, & I wish I had done it with the first two!

This weekend {G} & I will be participating in The Great Cloth Diaper Change!  In 2011 a Guinness World Record was set for the most cloth diapers changed simultaneously with 5,026 participants at 127 locations in 5 countries.  On Saturday, we will attempt to break this record!  To find a registered location near you, check out The Great Cloth Diaper Change!

Crayon Monogram How-To

I promised I would have a photo tutorial up for the Teacher Appreciation gift that I made for {J}'s teacher by the end of the weekend.  That task was a lot more difficult than I had predicted while juggling the boys & our 3 dogs alone!  I originally found this idea on Pinterest, but I have no idea who to give credit to since it was linked incorrectly. I hate it when that happens!  I had to wing it, but I did wise up & find a tutorial through Google after  the fact.  So, here you go!  Crayon Monogram Tutorial
